Overview
Self-hosted Docker container deployment engine for modern engineering teams
Explita Deploy (eda)
Explita Deploy (CLI command: eda or explita deploy) is a production-grade, self-hosted deployment engine designed to run on any Linux VPS or bare-metal server. It gives engineering teams a private PaaS experience—combining the developer velocity of cloud platforms (like Vercel or Railway) with total data sovereignty, zero markup, and no vendor lock-in.
What Does Explita Deploy Do?
With a single terminal command from your local machine, eda coordinates the entire delivery pipeline:
- Local Source Packaging: Automatically packages your repository into a tarball and pushes it securely to your host server over an authenticated control plane API.
- Docker Orchestration: Builds or pulls your Docker container image directly on the host using BuildKit with intelligent layer caching.
- Automated Health Checks: Probes your container's HTTP readiness endpoint before shifting traffic to ensure the new release is healthy.
- Zero-Downtime Traffic Swaps: Reconfigures the host's high-performance Caddy reverse proxy on the fly, seamlessly swapping traffic between old and new containers without dropping active connections.
- Ephemeral Branch Previews: Deploys preview branches to dedicated isolated tunnels (
https://preview-d<id>.tunnel.explita.ng) or preview domains. - Automated Database Cloning: Clones production PostgreSQL or MySQL schemas and seed data into isolated databases so you can test database migrations safely.
- Production Promotion: Promotes verified preview deployments directly to production using
eda promote <deploymentId>. - Instant Rollbacks: Reverts production routing to any previous release tag in milliseconds using
eda rollback <deploymentId>. - Managed Services & Backups: Manages dedicated PostgreSQL databases, Redis instances, scheduled cron jobs, and off-site S3 backups.
