Observability (eda logs, stats, top)

Real-time log streaming, build output inspection, resource statistics, and live terminal top monitors

Explita Deploy provides comprehensive observability primitives to diagnose container errors, trace request activity, inspect build outputs, and monitor system resources directly from your local terminal.

eda logs [options]
eda stats [options]
eda top [options]

1. Container & Build Logs (eda logs)

Fetch stdout and stderr streams from running containers or inspect previous build logs.

eda logs [options]

Options

FlagShorthandTypeDescription
--app <appId>-aStringTarget application ID (defaults to local explita.json).
--live-lBooleanStream logs continuously in real time (equivalent to tail -f).
--tail <lines>-tNumberNumber of lines to show from the end of the log buffer.
--deployBooleanInspect remote Docker build and image compilation logs instead of runtime output.

Examples

# View last 100 lines of application logs
eda logs

# Stream runtime logs live as HTTP requests arrive
eda logs --live

# View the last 500 lines of logs
eda logs --tail 500

# Inspect build logs from the last deployment run
eda logs --deploy

2. Resource Statistics Snapshot (eda stats)

Retrieve a point-in-time snapshot of CPU load, memory utilization, network bandwidth I/O, and disk block I/O for your applications.

eda stats [options]

Options

FlagShorthandTypeDescription
--app <appId>-aStringTarget application ID.
--allBooleanDisplay statistics for all applications hosted on the server.
--live-lBooleanContinuously update statistics table every 2 seconds.

Sample Output:

APP ID NAME CPU % MEM USAGE / LIMIT MEM % NET I/O BLOCK I/O
app_9f3a12 payment-api 1.42% 182.4MB / 1.0GB 17.8% 45.2MB / 12.1MB 8.4MB / 0B
app_7c19b0 landing-web 0.18% 94.1MB / 512MB 18.3% 102MB / 88.4MB 1.2MB / 0B

3. Interactive Terminal Monitor (eda top)

Launch an interactive, htop-style live dashboard that refreshes every second, displaying real-time process statistics, memory pressure, active container ports, and system load averages across your entire Explita Deploy host:

eda top

Key Controls:

  • q or Ctrl+C: Exit the live dashboard.

[!NOTE] eda top is a live-streaming alias for eda stats --live. Metrics stream automatically via WebSocket as the Docker daemon emits resource updates. To inspect logs for a specific container, use eda logs -l [-a <appId>].
